California Secretary of State's office, either as a corporate name, or
other business entity--in case any of you took this seriously.

Welp, I'm back after about a 17 year hiatus. Dusted off and checked out the
old K1 and it seems to be working gud. I had a question, the old tx offset
issue, but got it sorted using an alternative method. I see they subsequently
modified the circuit and added a switch to the bottom of the
I returned my KIO3A module for repair of the digital I/F board. It
arrived Sept. 30 and I just received word that the board will have to

You are exactly right. If you follow the K2 history, you will find that
the K2 A TO B kit was issued to pull all the prior mods together as well
as providing instructions about the best sequence to use when doing a

For anyone considering updating an old K2, a small point that may not be clear in the instructions is that
the K2ATOBKT is sort of a "top level" kit that "controls" the other mod kits. So instead

David and all,
I am a little late chiming in here, but all David's points are correct
except for a caution on one.
The alternate winding ratio for T4 should never be used with the KSB2 or
the KPA100 installed. It is OK for power in CW kept below 5 watts.
If the PA is operated above 5 watts,
I wasn't aware that any K4s have shipped?

Try shorting the RCA connector on the amp and see if the TX light comes on.
Load the KPA1500 utility and look at the log file.
Look on the KPA1500 and see what frequency it thinks the amp is on. If it is
out of band it will not TX.
That is where I would start. Also check that all cables are
Came out to the shack this morning and the KPA-1500 is not going into
transmit.
I verified that the PTT cable is shorting when the Flex 6600 goes into
transmit.
The amp operates properly otherwise. The ATU works, it shows the power
out from the 6600, it just won't go into transmit (no Red
