Agreed Doug,
I just watched this yesterday and was so blessed by the interview.
Listening to Wayne led me to realize we have the Steve Jobs of radio!
Took his idea of a random wire and had a blast working as A in ARRL
Sweepstakes. This interview is a must see. Great hosts too for not

Our AX1 dual band whip has become a favorite of HF portable operators who
travel light—especially those engaging in /PM (pedestrian mobile) operation.
Now we’ve created an even more compact whip: the single-band (20 m) AX2. It
uses the same telescoping whip as the AX1 (6” collapsed). And like

A half-wave dipole tuned to resonate in the middle of the band will have
very manageable VSWR over the entire band.
Yes you can program the K-POD to play the DVR. Mine is programmed to do
this however I don't have the program in front of me. I never use the K-Pod
for messages as I find it easier to use my computer's F keys to play
messages.

There is no simple answer to your question. Most DX stations will be below
7.200MHz however many Caribbean stations will be higher in the band. Also
some DX stations operate split and listen above 7.200MHz. So it's best to
find a way to cover the whole band.

I have had two cable failures, both happening inside the side with the
microphone. While it's not initially obvious, you can pull the earpad
back far enough to get at the three small screws that hold the back part
of the headphone on.

Yes, I kind of think you are right, Jim. I did not know about the
requirement to set Lin In with Lin In selected, and Mic Gain with Mic
selected. I had been doing adjustments in Mic+Lin with the front panel
Mic Gain only, assuming that in Mic +Lin it controlled both. Whew -
good to know
Richard,
During DX SSB contests, DX tends to transmit below 7125 kHz (where US
cannot transmit SSB) and listen above, sometimes above 7200 kHz, so I
tend to tune a 40 meter antenna to the center of the band 7150 kHz,
and use the internal tuner in the radio to 'touch up' the SWR near the
