I had not read about your KPA1500 issue until now. I can relate with the same
problem. Very frustrating but maybe now a solution. Thanks for the follow up!

Readers may recall that I had been asking for help with an intermittent
problem causing my KPA-1500 to trip due to high SWR. It would happen
3-4 times in 10 minutes and then not happen again for hours.

As Rick said;
Go into config MENU KRX3, set it to BNC or ATU depending on how the rear
antenna coax is cabled, then exit the menu and cycle power.
