Hi Christ
I built the preamp in a Radio Shack Ultracompact enclosure and
incorporated it in a set of pigtails to use with my Proset and K2.
The preamp is the same as the one built into my Icom HM7 dynamic hand mike.
Both work exceptionally well with the K2.

Why would you want to change?
Being natural has it's own beauty, witness too much makeup on a lovely lady.
And why does the ft-900 knob remind me of Jimmy Durante? :)

Howdy Everyone,
I am seriously considering the purchase construction of a BL2 switched balun
so I can
noted, sometimes the
preamp must be used to amplify the noise enough to trigger the K2NB.

It doesn't. Don't waste your time on this option.
Thinking of building my 2nd K2. I wondered what
the consensus is on HOW WELL DOES THE NB WORK?in a K2
definitive answer from the list.
This is really not a big problem and I am certain I would have never
noticed the difference in brightness had the two rigs not been setting
side by side and even then it took several days before I noticed it.

This circuit may help you evaluate your KNB2.

I used 1.8 megohm fixed for the base resistance. With 5V input, output
is about 4V.
Varying C1 from 470pf thru .047uf varies the pulse width from approx. 10
uS to 500 uS.

note that logging into the DXA window DOES NOT enter you in the
*K7C* radio
log. You must make your *K7C* QSOs on the air; DXA merely confirms that
