I'll be a cookie or some other parameter expired 12/31/10. I noticed
this was also a problem on a couple of web BBS's I visit - they lost the
personalization/password info until the sysop reset the expiration date.

Even if you can tune a 40m wire on 160, that doesn't mean it will work
well. In my experience, short wires for the low bands are an exercise
in futility.

replacement parts are no longer available, etc. I have no regrets owning

For everyone's info, the stock K3 A vfo knob makes a great K3 B vfo knob as
well.
It DOES fit and many of us have matching vfo knobs on our K3's.

The K3 Line Audio Output mod described in
http://www.elecraft.com/K3/mods/K3_AF_Stage_Upgrade_Instructions_Rev_B.pdf
calls for 51-ohm 1/8 watt SMD resistors. Can anyone provide a manufacturer
or Digi-Key part number, or the correct SMD package size?
Thanks happy holidays,
Barry N1EU
I looked around and just went with Digi-Key P51ACT-ND (805 size)

A classic, Phil!
I've had solder drop on my leg while wearing shorts, but that was the worst
for me.
BTW, my wife came in to see what I was laughing about and I had her read
your post. She didn't get it - though Mr. Happy referred to a toy or
stuffed animal :.)

APF is very critical (width is only 30hz) and I use the K3's fine vfo tuning
rather than shift. But yes, APF is still working just fine ;-)

Thanks for comments so far. Running wireless for internet connection (and
yes, needs to be connected). Unplugged PS and no change while on battery.
Using an external monitor, with laptop monitor off. Turning off external
monitor makes no difference.

Knut, does that Spectrum Lab software allow you to do time averaging for the
plots? If you can average over 500+ samples, it will smooth out the plot
and make it more useful and readable.

The keen reader will notice that option 5 equals option 1

And to K6LL: Yes, I too fear loss of weaker signals
