I am looking for recommendation for a compact switching power supply product to
recharge my KX3 via the installed KXBC3. I had been using a Bioenno external
battery pack, but have decided to start using internal NiMH batteries when on
the road.

Bill, thanks for your recent discussion on digital ops. I wish to start
exploring this mode, and am also a MacOS user. Please provide your
recommendations on options for MacOS software for various digital modes. I
have no MacOS Elmers available locally.

I'm looking for an Annecke balanced (symmetrical) ATU as much for its beauty
as its functionality! I know they're rare but does anyone know of one that
might be for sale? And, are we really making progress? The charger for the
KX2 battery is almost as big as the KX2 itself.

I'm thinking of installing a wireless home security system running on 868
MHz (FM). I run up to 100 watts through the built-in ATU, into an Elecraft
balun, open wire feeder and 88ft dipole at 30ft. Has anyone any experience
they can share please? Am I likely to trigger the alarm?
Thanks
I know that the 100 watt amp for the K2 can't be driven by just any rig, but
can it work with the KX3? Does anyone have any bright ideas?
Thanks

Thanks to everyone who offered advice. All agreed on - K2 OK, internal SLA
is not. Paperwork - licence copy (and manual).

Advice please - I'm flying within Europe shortly with a K2. Do I pack it in
suitcase (hold) or carry-on? Any problem with the SLA battery? What about
paperwork? Is it likely to cause concern at the airports?
Thanks

I am a K3 owner and user. I have the
KRX3 module installed. What do I
need in order to hear? below 500 kHz? Or is this even

tune below 1 mHz.

VAT on the K3 kit is payable but not import tax. The latter depends on the
accuracy of the 'code' numbers supplied by Elecraft, and I've always found
these absolutely right. UK Customs unfortunately often can't be bothered
checking the full number in their book (also on the web) and they have
I'm using a h/b 1930's link (balanced) tuner. It's as efficient as I can
get, and open wire feeders closely balanced. What I'd really like is the
same automated, either using motorised variable caps or switched
caps/inductance. Has anyone any links or have they managed it themselves?

I'm aware when tuning down a band on receive that there is a short break in
the audio every so often. This doesn't seem to happen when tuning up the
band. Can anyone explain what is happening?

I've just received covers for K2 and K3 within a week of ordering. They are
simple and most effective in my dusty cellar. Really pleased - thanks Rose.

On my K3 (#126) the latest firmware version (possibly previous ones also)
reset the RS232 speed to 38,400. If you lose serial connection, check
Config:RS232 to ensure software and K3 are talking at the same speed.
Advice please - the ATU BYPASS feature - is it a real bypass leaving no

The last two imports to the UK have (wrongly) attracted duty for me. The
explanation I was given was that our database cant handle all the digits,
so the code number gets truncated and duty levied accordingly. Its devil of
a job reclaiming the duty: all the paper work has to be submitted. For
This has been mentioned from time to time but still caused a problem when I
ordered a KX1 kit recently. Elecraft's documentation is correct and
perfectly clear - one of the commodity codes was 8529 9040 00. UK Customs
truncated this to 8529 90 and charged import duty at 3%. If you don't pay,

Dear People,
I've much enjoyed building and using my K2 etc. As big a delight is this
mailing list, with its tremendous expertise and good humour. It's time I
gave something back, so here's my one dollar's worth. It might seem mad, but
it works.

I've changed R14 to 5.6k to increase mic sensitivity using SSBA=2. I then
bought the MH2 mic which is matched to the K2. Reports said I was clipping
and degrading the audio, so I set SSBA to 1. Quality is now fine. Can I
assume that the MH2 is matched to the K2 with R14 at 1k (as original) and
