At what point does the SWR have to rise up to before
the K3/10 output power begins to decrease?
I have been using a TS-830 which is not bothered by
SWR up to at least 3:1. I cannot get the tuner now so
will I be forced to run very low power if my SWR is 2
or 3 to 1? What about the K3/100?
The reference on page 27 of the KX3 preliminary Owner's Manual
concerning remote control software leads to an error 404 that the page
does not exist on this site. I assume the link has changed or is wrong
in the manual. I would like to know the correct link and if this also is
the location
It would be nice if someone would develop
a rubber like slip-on covering for the KX3
like they have for multi-meters. It would
need openings in the appropriate places and
lettering for the opening designations that it
covers up. Also nice would be a mating plastic
snap-on cover (clear?)
I have not had any experience using data modes in
low power radios. Will the KX3 be nearly as effective
using data modes as it will be using CW? From what I
read in the preliminary manual I guess it is possible to
connect a portable PC with data software to use the
data modes in addition to
This question has been going around in my head
and I would like some feedback from Elecraft owners
for I have never had any Elecraft radio equipment.
Which is better to have a K3/100 kit or a KX3 with all
the options including the forthcoming 100 watt PA?
I'm assuming the cost will be about
My radio needs are very modest for I am not a contester,
or DXer, or even one who makes a lot of contacts but I
do listen quite a bit. I do like to have a fine radio and
presently own one - the Kenwood TS-830S. I have no
intention of parting with it. As far as modes go I operate

I think the versatility of the KX3 is its best-selling point. It can work
as a complete base station radio with or without the 100 watt amp. It can be
used in the car with its own batteries or connected to the car power jack
(with both + and - fused). It can be used while taking a walk or taking
Hoping that I may not be the only Ham puzzled by the block diagram of the
KX3 I am asking that someone please explain it because it is so different
from the superheterodyne radio concept I have become accustomed to in
current amateur radios. I understand direct conversion radios but what is
all
The KX3 manual has instructions for using PSK31
and printing text on the display, however nothing is
said about using PSK31 and a computer. There are
instructions for Data A and AFSK A using a PC but
no instructions about using a PC with PSK D.
