I'll finally chime in as well, and AGREE with Jason! We have to get used to it? I've never seen so many arrogant, whining twits in my entire life!! Get a hobby! I'm outta here as well. Greg ki4mmm On Dec 7, 2007, at 10:47 AM, Jason Milldrum wrote: On Dec 7, 2007 7:17 AM, Julian

[Elecraft] Elecraft GC Receiver by chance?

2007-07-23 Thread Greg Derda
Just curious: with mentions of other upcoming Elecraft products (e.g., power amps) in previous posts, is there a chance that Elecraft might release a General Coverage receiver kit someday? I am wanting something comparable to the Palstar r30, Icom r-75, etc., but would much rather build an

[Elecraft] OT: QRPARCi Membership

2007-07-18 Thread Greg Derda
I'm guessing that there are a few QRPARCi member here - quick question: I joined via the Web site ( paid via PayPal) back on July 3, but I haven't heard a thing. I've sent email to three addresses listed on the site with regard to membership, but received no replies. Does anybody know if it

[Elecraft] OT: Frequency probe

2007-06-26 Thread Greg Derda
I've searched and Googled all over for this, but can find nothing. I have both a benchtop frequency counter (from a Hamfest w/ no probe), and the NorCal FCC-1, and I need a frequency probe for both of them. I have some RG-174 and BNC connectors. For the benchtop counter, I presume I connect

[Elecraft] QRP SSB Calling Frequencies

2007-05-30 Thread Greg Derda
In the back of K7SZ's Low Power Communication (ARRL publication) is a list of QRP calling frequencies. I am guessing that those for CW are well used, and standardized, but I am curious, as a No-Code General, whether the QRP SSB frequencies are used as often? I realize I am in a minority, but

[Elecraft] XG1 freq. adjustment

2007-05-29 Thread Greg Derda
I've just built an XG1, and it is not clear to me how to adjust the frequency using C6. According to the manual: the frequency of the XG1 can set to exactly 7040.00 by adjusting C6 with an insulated tuning tool. Otherwise leave C6 set at its midpoint. With C6 centered, there is a definite

[Elecraft] K2 #6100 is alive!

2007-05-23 Thread Greg Derda
My XYL wasn't quite as excited about this as I had hoped, so I've got to tell someone ;-) I wired my TenTec 701, and the mic header, last night, and made my first contacts with K2 #6100. The first, from my QTH in North Georgia, was using 8w on 10m, to Pennsylvania - the band was up and

[Elecraft] prebuilt KPA100 KDSP2's

2007-05-22 Thread Greg Derda
Having just finished the build of K2 #6100 with a KSB2 (installed) and KNB2 (yet to install), I am looking at my next options. I plan to add a KPA100, KDSP2, and KAT100, and although I am enjoying the build process, another way to acquire these (at a potential savings) would be prebuilt.

Not that I have received any negative comments, but I did want to clarify that my statement was a joke coming from someone who is overwhelmed with the joy (and labor of love) of the whole Elecraft experience at this time. We're all lucky to have XYL's who are supportive of our hobby

[Elecraft] K2/KPA100 vs. EC2/KPA100

2007-05-17 Thread Greg Derda
Hi all, I just finished building K2 #6100, and will start my KSB2 tonight. I am a no-code General, and work primarily SSB QRO, although I look forward to QRP'ing with my K2. In most cases, for any portable work I might do, I will most likely carry at least two enclosures: the K2 and some
