I have purchased together with my K2 an MH2 microphone short before it
was discontinued two years ago.
The reports I receive always state, that the mike has too much bass.
The filters of my K2 were checked with spectrogram and - to me - appear
correct.
In parallel I have tried a cheap boomset
Hi,
I?ve been using my KPA100 for a while and suddenly had a strange smell
in my nose - like something being very hot from too many amperes. I
opened the unit, could not find anything burnt or molten but found
resistors R38/R39 in the final stage hot. I still could touch them
without burning
Hi folks,
has ever anybody built a spectrum analyzer/bandscope for the K2?

KPA100 is aligned according to the manual.
When I key the K2/KPA100 up to 10 watts, current is up to 2 A. Looks normal.
Then I set the K2 to 11 watts (KPA100 engaded) Now current is approx. 6
Amps.
What are those 4 extra amps needed for?
When I set K2 to 20 watts, it consumes approx. 8 amps.
Does anybody have an idea, why I can?t access the email-reflector since
about one week? I tried it from different machies at different loctions:
the reflector-page can?t be opened. All the rest of the elecraft-pages
works fine. Also the backup server. I receive my daily digest-e-mail.

In a class for novice licensees I tried to demonstrate, what
intermodulation is and what the consequences are. We had two signal
generators operating on frequencies that were 5 khz apart and fed those
signals to various transceivers of different make. The signal strength
was varied between S9
Re: K2 #4764. I receive a signal with - let us say - S8. So the S-meter
jumps between S0 and S8. Now I would expect, that if I reduce RF-gain so
that the S-meter-bar just rests at S8, there would not be any variation
in S-meter-reading anymore. Wrong! Doing this, the S-meter peak reading
I?m receiving reports that my SSB slightly sounds like C-Amplifier
instead of AB. This is independent of power setting and mike
amp-setting, but increases, when I increase the gain of the speech
processor. I?m using the Heil MH2-Mike.
I?ve looked at the circuit diagram and the voltage charts,
No doubt: ist works, but I have a question in mind. As far as I
understand, the latching relays are switched back and forth by short
pulses from the I/O-controller. But: how does the controller know the
initial stage of the relay in order to switch to the desired position?
How does the
Hi folks,
I´m looking for an tuner that works fully symmetrical like e.g. the MFJ
974h but tunes automatically in a remote place, e. g. like the elecraft
longwire-tuner.
I have the following idea: why not involve two lw-tuners in parallel and
let them tune one leg of the balanced feedline
I listenend saturday from 15.00z onwards. Nothing on 10 an 15, very weak
signals on 20, only one elecrafter, and running qrp-contest of AGCW-DL
with reasonable traffic. I gave up after one hour. Too early?

Hi,
I am getting reports from stations, who live in the neighbourhood that
my SSB sounds like my PA is operating as Class C-Amplifier. I have
checked the bias - that is ok as described in the manual.
What can I do to check my modulation other than listening to other
peoples reports? What
Hi folks,
can anybody help me with a circuit diagram for a simple pulse-generator
which I can use as test-generator in order to test the function of the
KNB2? I figure 2 transistors will do, but can´t recall the rest.

Hi,
have elecraft ever considered an adaper for the k2 to drive an
oszilloscope as bandscope? Could be a helpful aid at least for people
running the VHF-transverters.

I have sharp pulses on all bands hitting the band about once per second,
which the noiseblanker of my old IC 735 kills, but not so my K2 S/N 4765.
I can - more or less - read a circuit diagramm (I don´t understand each
components function in detail yet) I´ve tried some signal tracing,
couldn´t

while back. Perhaps Wayne or Eric might comment on whether Elecraft will be
introducing a new noise blanker in the future.

Would elecraft ever plan a kit for a symmetric antenna-tuner? I would
love to build another product from elecraft and a symmetric tuner would
be my favourite.

Hi folks,
has anybody experimented with the noise reduction of the KDSP2 for cw?
Are there any optimum settings that one should use or are the factory
settings already optimum. Up to now I´m not very much pleased with this
particular feature, while the others are very helpful. Possibly I´m
Hi EU-elecrafters,
after revising all your comments following last weeks EU-elecrafters
qso-party,
I propose the next EU qso-party for
next thursday 18.30 UTC on 80m 3,558 khz minus qrm for short-skip qso
and 20.00 UT on 40 m 7028 khz minus qrm for longer-distance qso if condx
allow that.
Hi folks,

Band conditions were very poor, so I only could hear/work

Hi folks,
I have started to assemble a user-list of EU-elecraft-builders. Who
wants it can send me an email. Who is not on the list yet and lives in

Hi everybody,
my K2 is #4764.
I am in doubt about the optimum CW-pitch. I think I remember from the
old days, that the human ear has the best built in filter around 1000
Hz, so I thought, CW-crystal filters should have a pitch around 1000 Hz.
Many commercial units seem to have 800 Hz, the
Is there a way to find out the names/e-mail-adresses of
elecraft-builders in Germany?
I find it hard to work 100 elecraft-stations distributed all over the
world. May be easier to run a german/elecrafters-party in order to
collect points for the diplome.
I would be prepared to start an
Yes folks, my K2 finally is ready with all options: SSB, Noise-Blanker,
DSP, 160 m and 100 W-PA. I finished it 5 minutes ago. Everything is
working well. The few things, that did not work right from the beginning
had my own stupid faults as their reason. For all this, I spent about 55
hours.
I am happily using a doublett-antenna that I feed with a 600 Ohm
ladder-feedline.
When I came to decide, what kind of tuner to use, I could not find
anybody to give me an answer to my questions that would satisfy me:
- use a balanced tuner, like the MFJ 974 H (which I finally purchased)

I have set the wide CW-Filter (Fil1) to 1,5 and aligned the BFO to a
pitch of 700 Hz. I applied HF of constant frequency to the
receiver-input with a signal strength that generated S9+10 db max. and
plotted the S-meter versus variation of the VFO from high pitch to low
pitch in 100 hz-steps.
I am not shure, if my CW-.filter(s) work(s) correctly because I find
it/them rather broad regarding the shape factor. If the peak-width is
set to approx. 150 Hz (0,20) the -6 db-width is around 200 Hz, but the -
60 db-width is still about 1,6 khz. I don´t have precise measurement
tools, so
