Hi John,
I noticed your inquiry on the Elecraft reflector this AM.
I own both a K2/100 and a K3/100. I have built three K2's and my K3/100.
Depending on your interests the K3 is superior,
especially the receiver. The k2 was primarily designed as a CW rig and lacks in
SSB output. The VOX
Hunter,
You will be very sorry if you dispose of your K3.
I too am no computer expert but I perservered and finally am comfortable using
the K3.
Now my Drake C line and even the Drake TR-7 and Collins KWM-2A seem too
dificult to use
comfortably.
Suggest you rethink your decision to sell.
MERRY CHRISTMAS and Happy New Year to all Elecrafters.

Dave,
I certainly agree.
The Elecraft list is often 50 plus topics, most of which are absolute nonsense.
I for one wish it could be limited to dealing with operation problems with use
of the Elecraft products and not ancilliary equipment usage or hookups, i.e.
bandscopes, linear amps.,etc.
Hi agn Ralph,

Hi Fern,
Please excuse my previous e-mail.
Your annoying speaker resonance may be due to over tightning the speaker
mounting screws and having distorted the speaker frame to cause it to contact
the voice coil. Try loosening the screws somewhat.
I have K3/100 S/N 409 and do not have this
Bill,
May I suggest that you patiently wait for your K3, you will not be disappointed
but you will be if you elect to buy an Icom radio. I personnaly will never
again own an import from Japan.
The K3 is all it is cracked up to be and more and will be at your location as
promised. Elecraft is

Hi Rose,
IMHO you should keep your dust covers exactly as they are. They fit perfectly
and the rear extension protects the rear cabling. I' m very pleased with mine.

Hi Lee,
I am the owner of K3 S/N 00409. I very much enjoyed your slide show of your
assembly, best I've seen so far, excellent. Who took the photos of you at work?
Mine went together without a hitch, very well thought out assembly. I really
enjoy using it now that I'm

Dave,
Why not buy a kit, lots of fun assembling a K3 plus one saves money. I'm

Hi Barry,
Buy the kit, very easy to assemble, be sure to read every instruction two or
three times and you won't go wrong.
You will also save money, not only the extra price charged for the assembled K3
but your VAT and other import fees. I had to pay $297.00 to the Government in
Goods and

Ordered May 29/07, received Feb.13/08, assembled in about 10 hrs., No
difficulties even though I have vision problems, activated Feb.15/08, what a
revelation compared to my K2/100 and other Collins and Drake rigs I have. Now
to get used to operation of the new controls.
Thanks Elecraft.
73,
Note what Don Wilhelm W3FPR is telling you about the SSB performance of the K2,
it is excellent
in my opinion.
I use SSB exclusivley primarily to work DX and almost always get the DX station
on my first call, so
something must be right with the audio in the K2. Do as he suggests, properly
set

Your photographs are fantastic!
An excellent build of your K2, every lead is beautifully formed and soldered,
it must have taken you many hours to build the rig, excellent sorting and
marking of components for assembly.
You have never seen snow and ice before? Come on up here to Wellesley,
The Robertson name I believe is a Canadian identity for the square head
