Depending on what options the K3 has installed internally there is a fair
amount of empty space inside the K3 box. I know mine (100W + XV3 + filters)
seems mostly like an empty box inside :)
It would not be hard for an enterprising person to install a small

Here's something you might consider (or maybe already have :) )
If the KX3 front panel is almost identical in controls to the K3, maybe it
could be paired with a K3 to act as a remote front panel. Similar to the
detachable panel functionality available with many current mobile rigs. The

3 out of 5. A quick search of the elecraft archives didn't find any
comments related to this review. A few of the points mentioned in the
review make sense to me, but I only have a K1; so far. I would like to
So, the question is, what can be done to fix the distorted audio
when there a high level of RF in the shack (besides getting a better
ground system - I plan to put in one or two more ground rods, but I
won't be able to do that until after the ground defrosts in the spring).

NOT hardware-derived, but software-driven. When you change bands, and the
power level generally WILL change because each band has a little bit
different efficiency, hence different drive levels required for the same
