Contact the Audobon Society to see if you can have a nest for a bird of

well...

I recently had to install a soundcard dongle when my internal card went
TU. When operating WSJT-X, I notice that the ALC runs the 4-bar
solid/5th-bar flicker normal operation during the transmit cycle. At the
end of the cycle it jumps to 6 or 7 bars before the receive cycle starts.
This does
Bob,
You mentioned:
"Also you can bypass the KPA500 to STBY mode and check the system by
observing the SWR on the K3."
I think you meant the KAT500 instead of the K3. The K3 has to be
bypassed to work with the tuner. Anyway, I have made some progress. I
tried running through my dummy load
I discovered a problem this afternoon where the KPA500 is faulting on 20,
17 and 12 meters. Set up here is the K-line, K3/KAT500/KPA500.
Everything had been working fine until this point. I get a hard fault
(error code 9) on the three bands which means excessive SWR even though
it has tuned
Being a proponent of the KISS principle, I prefer to let the K3 software
run unfettered by macros. Being clever with the use of macros gets
overruled by dumb in this case.

Having followed this thread, I can heartily endorse Elecraft's method of
idiot-proofing K3 power control when used with the KPA500. I have tuned
each band for maximum output (except 200W on 30 meters per regulations).
When the amp is in standby and I key the K3, I see the output level on

Skip,
Check your soundcard cable to your Line-in jack. I had the same problem
occur several times before I discovered the problem was the cable. I
pressed on it at the line in jack while testing and the power out came
back up. Same symptoms: no output, RX signals OK, CW and SSB OK.

Paula,
Your problem may be as simple as bad cable connections between the K3
line in and your soundcard. I had the same problem that recurred several
times and drove me nuts. I was getting audio out of the soundcard when
going to transmit. (I also the problem with AFSK-A RTTY.) I finally
I opened N1MM+ to check operation with RTTY in the hope that if it
worked, its settings may be a clue to what was wrong for the other
soundcard-controlled digital modes. I initially noticed the RTTY window
would populate what I sent but still no power out. On a hunch I pushed
the XMIT (PTT)
I've been using my K3 almost exclusively on WSJT-X FT8 since the mode
came into being. Things worked fine until a couple days ago when I no
longer see any power out or ALC indication regardless of band setting.
All connections remain as before, untouched. I switched to MMTTY and
AFSK-A to try
