. Just recently I got 2 people interested in this hobby.I have also rediscovered the fun of operating portable QRP in the field. Just do something constructive instead of dwelling upon the negative.Group therapy might help.So ADAPT A NEW PERSPECTIVE. Elecraft is a good company. I like what they do

I think (not sure here) the techniques and needed skills are the same with the K2 or K1. The difference is just scale. The K2 is just more of the same. Of course, more means there is more chance to do something wrong, but I don't think the K1 is any easier (or tougher) to build, just shorter.

Steve, (N4EUK) Much thanks for the info on the K1. I will probably purchase the K1 kit. I might even get some mini modules for Alignment etc.. I like the idea of operating rigs without commercial power and the K1 looks very portable. Have to wait awhile and save up the money. Can hardly wait!!
