I saw the K3/0 at the Orlando hamfest last week. It looks just like the 10w
and 100w versions.
The 'box' is pretty much empty inside, except for the front panel which I was
told was probably the most expensive part of a K3.

Well, that's a great idea, Thor ... everything built into the "big" box and
only connect power supply and ethernet cable on the back ... in this case I
could well live with the "complete" enclosure instead of just a front panel. ;-)
So now even more looking forward to hear the final news from El
The bigger enclosure might also be able to support a very nice
speaker.
The price should be interesting... it probably doesn't matter much for
the remote mountaintop guys and frequent travellers, but a high price
("half the cost of a K3" as rumored) will limit sales to those who

When thinking of the cost for a K3/0 consider that the encoders are the
single most expensive components of the K3 and knobs are not
inexpensive. So I really don't know the price breakpoint, but if it
turns out to be half that of a K3/10, I would not be surprised.

I think there are two types of users here:
1) Those who would like a small head to take along when they travel,
where space is at a premium. Of course, then the RRC also needs to be
taken along, but this is much easier if they are separate items for a
small suitcase or carry-on. A method to pro
I would like the K3/0 to be built in the regular K3 enclosure.
This would make it possible to build in the http://remoterig.com/ RemoteRig
Control unit and all the regular connectors on the back of the K3/0 would
match those of the regular K3 - this would make it so much easier to set up,

Rig system. But then
again it depends on Elecraft's realization ... so eagerly awaiting more
detailed information here, too. ;-))

Will the K3/0 in the future be expandable to
a K3/10 or K3/100 ?
Since, if I haven´t got the wrong information,
the price tag of the K3/0 is about half of a
basic K3 this could be nice.
