I *always* use headphones, but had a visitor in the shack and turned on
the speaker for, I think, the first time. There is a really annoying
resonance that occurs at much lower AF gain levels than I normally
run. My pitch is set at 600 Hz and it is pretty distorted at moderately
low levels.
Go to your local computer components shop, they have sound and resonance
dampening mats with a sticky side that is exactly the solution. Put part
onto your K3, the rest in your computer if it's not a laptop ;)

My K3 speaker performs flawlessly and puts out wonderful audio until NR is
turned on. It then produces some shrill resonances at some frequencies. I
find these resonances disappear when using NR on external speakers. I owe an
apology to Lyle Johnson for blaming the problem on noise
With my K3, I am able to produce an unusual shrill sound under certain
(loud) audio conditions. I was able to stop them by placing my hand on
the top of the K3 case.

I installed 1/8 ID rubber grommets in the speaker mounting slots, and ran
the screws through these. This fixed all my funny mechanical resonance
problems.

After a rather hectic month, I finally got my K3 on the air this
afternoon. (Worked by coincidence another K3: WA7VHO)).
But unfortunately my unit (from the kit) has a speaker resonance with
the cabinet at about 700 Hz or so. (Not good for a CW
op!) As others may have had this problem, could they
I've seen N6XI tweak the resonance of his K3's speaker by slightly tightening
or loosening one or more of the top screws that attach the speaker to the case.

Some have also added black tape to the top panel in the locations where
it comes into contact with certain areas of the chassis.
