The trouble is that you give up all the advantages of N1MM's integration of logging and message-sending functions, particularly in Enter Sends Messages mode. Setting up laptop-based message files takes more effort, but there's no inherent reason why they should not sound just as good. You

I've seen that, and can see how it would work. However, with only 4 memories, you don't get all the potential variation and situation-specific messages that N1MM provides, nor the possibility of voicing callsigns or serial numbers (which I don't advocate, by the way). For example, N1MM gives
