As explained offline to F5VJC, and as stated in my original post, there was
no criticism of Fred's work intended.
I wrongly assumed that a book was a book, and assumed that lulu was charging
VAT on books. At least one assumption too many on my part (to satisfy those

Here, in the UK, books are exempt from VAT, so I tried to report this to
lulu, but they won't accept a query without an order number and an order
number is only generated in response to
It is my experience (mostly in CH and DL) that all one has to do is
collect the receipts showing the VAT and take them to the nearest
customs office for a refund. Granted it's a PAITA, but better than being
ripped off by an unresponsive bureaucracy.
