The solar panned have to go to the charge controller that regulates it to 12 v in my case my solar setup has 12v at 14 amps that os used to charge my battery bank. I would just hook up to the battery bank and let it charge from there. Or for field use get a small portable one that rolls up that has

While we are on the subject, I am interested in learning what the maximum current drain is for the KX3. Does anyone know what size power supply is required? I can't seem to find those specs on the website. I assume a 25w power supply would be adequate for the stated maxiumum 12w output, but
