Thanks for the input, missed the part that RxEQ was stored by mode, that
solves my problem. I should have put KX3 in the subject, but works
same on k3 and kx3.. solved... thanks..

The RX EQ doesn't seem to do much for me on CW because I am already
limiting the response by the DSP bandwidth. Normally I use 300-450 Hz
for tuning around, and then narrow the bandwidth as needed for weak
signals or QRM. My passband is centered at 520, so I don't hear the very
low and high

Those are certainly valid
I like to use my RX EQ settings to reduce noise from static.

What sucks?
The K3/K3S stores separate RX EQ settings for CW and SSB. The
appropriate setting is recalled
Note that eq settings for SSB and CW are saved separately.

I don't see a reference to setting the receive eq via a macro, I do see
a reference to setting the transmit eq. Surely I am missing
something.. info please.. thanks in advance.. Fred

I would love to see the ability to save a separate EQ response for CW

Agreed ... sure would like a command that could be used within a macro to
change the RX EQ settings, like the one for transmit EQ.
I do this with k3_ez with the eq page I have set to save several different

Can anyone tell me what the benefits of TX equalization are?

In radio communications, it's been long understood that a male voice sounds
best with an audio response the rises in output gradually to about 2.5 kHz

The equalization controls allow you to adjust this response.

I'm curious. Once set, why would you change eq settings, especially receive?

Different modes. I have a group of settings I use for SSB that attempt
to emulate the program in my hearing aids. Not near enough for me but
it's sure better than nothing. If I
Also, communications type dynamic microphones often have rather
uneven response curves. Some I've seen have way too much response
below 500 or 600 Hz. The equalizer can be used to compensate for this
response.

Hi Guys
I am the proud new owner of a K3. First QSO on Saturday 3/6. Great rig and
HOT!!! receiver. But, audio often sounds thin and hollow. I'll bet I can fix
it with RX EQ. I am new to RX EQ and pretty clueless. Can anyone give me
starting points for setting RX EQ?

Hi Paul,
Receive EQ settings are totally subjective - you just have to fiddle with it
to find a comfortable setting. What are you using to listen; the speaker or
headphones?

I set up the RX EQ for a boost at 400 and 800Hz for CW. I also lowered the
others which had the effect of reducing noise. The results were good. I then
listened to some SSB and realized that the equalized settings were the same
as I had set for CW. I couldn't find a way to have one group for CW
Not to mention the effect on data modes...supposedly this is on the list.
