John,
My old (2000?) Toshiba Satellite 2450 has, in addition to the microphone
jack (monaural), a Line-in jack (stereo) as well as a 25 pin Parallel Port.
It weighs 3 kg.
I prefer the feel of its keyboard to that of my newer Toshiba Qosmio F20,
which does not have a Line-in jack.
Sorry that
I have a ~3 year ol Samsung N120 netbook that seems to work fine. I've
only just installed HDSDR, but it was able to decode SSB signals OK. I
had to swap the left an right channels, but no other problems. I was
actually a little surprised as I had never tried to use the mic input
To add to the list, my older HP Pavilion DV7 with Vista Home Premium
has a line in. It is labelled as external mic but is really a stereo
line in with switchable preamp. The sound device is by IDT and the
drivers support 24 bits at 192KHz!
Unfortunately, like so many other motherboard sound

have stereo in, and pretty good sound
If you are using the MME driver selection or one of the other Windows
drivers, try going into the Windows Mixer and set the recording level to 5
rather than the default 100.

Have you looked around yourself yet? Though not small, my 17 HP dv6 laptop
has stereo input on-board. I am sure there are several others. Just takes
some research...

Stereo line inputs started disappearing from laptops almost ten years ago.
How about this adapter?
Hi John,
The KX3 I/Q seems to work fine with my HP Pavilion DV6 Windows 7 64 bit laptop.
It
comes with sound card inputs for MIC and PHONES. The built-in audio is IDT and
