Beware... Initially I installed just one felt washer. After a short time I noticed the tuning knob was binding against the plastic panel. This can cause scratching of the surface. I put the other washer in place and that gave sufficient spacing, however when the knob was turned it made a rubbing

So, whats the deal now, my Rev C (Nov 15, 2007) manual said one felt washer under the main knob. The errata sheet that came with it, Rev C-3 Nov 26, 2007 item 5 had me change that to Two felt washers. Please advise 73 de M0XDF / K3 #174 On 18/02/2008 14:16, Bill W4ZV [EMAIL PROTECTED] sent:

It's entirely a matter of personal preference, David. It all depends upon the feel you like. I had two originally, but now have one. Perhaps I'm not as critical (and I have not had any tendency for the knob to rub on the bezel). Then again, I still have at best maybe five or six hours of operating

Regarding the Main VFO knob, when I finished my unit I found I had a felt washer left over. Re-read the instructions and found I only installed one washer...oops! However, my knob action is silky smooth, spins freely and yet has positive action and never counter-rotates when it stops. That's

I'm glad I stirred the pot just a little because I forgot about that extra mysterious felt washer that was left over from the kit build. For the heck of it, I installed the second washer and YES! The damping is much smoother now. So, free spinners might prefer one felt washer, but dampers

Errata sheet C-3, November 26, 2007 called for two felt washers to be added at Page 33 of Assembly Manual, Rev C, but this amendment was not carried forward to Rev D of the Assembly Manual. I don't know whether this was deliberate. I sent an e-mail to Wayne listing one or two other anomalies
