The KAT100 does not have a relay to bypass the LC circuits. So, with an existing match, it still needs to tune out its own impedances in order to operate properly. If you know that the antenna is already matched, you should tune the KAT100 into a dummy load, then use the settings it works

Lee, The KAT100 (note no dashes in Elecraft model numbers - except for the N-Gen :-) ) does not automatically go to a bypass mode. If you tune it into a 50 ohm resistive load, you may find it tunes to some small inductance and capacity in-circuit and may actually increase the SWR a small
