Good luck with the KDVR3, Deni. It works very well, but IMHO David is
right - it would be a great convenience to be able *automatically* to hear a
recording that is being transmitted. Wayne's response is eagerly awaited
here!

But it should require 3-5 pounds (depending on what connector detent
style you have) of force before a mated connection separates.

It works via ssb/pactor, but cant get the web site.

Good Morning All,
I managed to mangle my K2 lid (K2/10 with ATU and Batt)
Does anyone have an extra collecting dust that I could buy ?
Thanks

Now to the original topic, thanks to the many who responded with sources for
the powerpoles. I decided to order a few from Elecraft since I was ordering
another filter anyway.

Susan,
I was using a heavy-duty (#10) power cord with power-pole connectors
with my K3 and the weight of the wire would pull the connector
loose. One of the connectors was pulled off the wire (which was
crimped by the mfr and not soldered) so it is in my to be repaired

I would like to know if there is an APP conversion available for the K2.
Standardizing of shack 12v power distribution to APP will be cool.

Vidi,
I have my K2 and all other 12 volt shack equipment converted for APP
connectors.
No, I do not mount the APP directly on the equipment - I make up a short
adapter cable with the equipment's normal connector on one end and an
APP on the other - mine are about 6 inches long.

I only have two power-pole connected radios (K3 and FT-817). I just
tested the resistance to separating the mated connectors and it sure
doesn't take much to disconnect them (certainly could not support the
weight of the radio). They are either commercially built cables or
ones that I
Thank you Don, your idea also crossed my mind, but I was wondering if there
is any thing more substantial out there like on the K3.

No, I do not mount the APP directly on the equipment -
power-poles do not offer sufficient resistance to disconnecting in my
opinion. The professional made cable is plugged into the factory
installed connector on the back of the K3. They come apart
(disconnect) if I move the radio.
I use a small tie wrap that goes through the roll pin holes in
Let's end this thread as it is a repeat of the periodic APP thread on
this list and others. (Sort of like the CW/Non-CW tes threads etc. ;-)
Searching the list archives for the word 'APP' at

The KPA100 for the K2 uses the APP connector as its power line
interface. That's another alternative.

Thanks Don,
I go back and forth between the internal and external batteries, so I'm not
crazy about this as the stated life is limited for the potentiometer. Having
said that, I dialed it back to get 4 watts into a dummy load and very weak
power on internal batteries.
Here's the strange part,
Jim,
On the power issue, maybe you want to reduce the voltage when you
operate at home and keep R4 set to maximum for the sake of the internal
battery operation. A couple diodes in series with the power supply
should cut the voltage a bit and keep the KX1 out of the danger zone.
On your
It seems the power increase is only on 30 where my antenna is less than
perfect. I verified power with a W-1 and the internal watt meter is within
.25 watts on all bands...both say I'm pushing 5.5 - 6 watts with the antenna
connected, 4 watts with a dummy load.
I'll fiddle some more and also
You could probably mount one to the internal battery switch and feed
the power in on the internal battery connector :).

Hello All.
I would like to know:
Does your K3 remember your VOX settings by mode after a power off-and-on cycle?
If so, what did you have to do to get it to remember the setting.
I know it is possible, but I can't remember how I did it, or find it in the
manual..
Many thanks and 73,
John,
I cannot imagine that any LID would own a smart, excellent radio like the
K2... Will probably be very hard to find such an individual. Good luck.

Hi John,
The VOX setting for CW is saved, as is the VOX setting for voice/AF
data modes. These are separate.
You can make CW VOX default to OFF on power-up using the CW WGHT menu
entry. Tap 4 to select VOX NOR or AUTO OFF.
