Another possibility, especially if you are reaching behind the KPA1500 to
insert the USB cable, and can't see the connectors well, is that you've
accidentally pushed the square USB-B plug it into the square RJ-45
(Ethernet) connector instead of into the USB-B connector which is just
above it.
73,
Thanks Bob,
I looked at the USB-B connector again, unplugged from the WinKeyer and
plugged into the KPA1500, no virtual port was created.
Elecraft agrees with you about the USB chip being bad. They've sent me
an RSA so the amp will go back for service. I asked if we could do a
board swap
Elecraft site still shows March Madness sale. Probably not current?

Help:
I am running a MacBook Pro with my K3. In WSJT-X, the audio will work fine for
awhile. The audio switches back to the internal IO in the computer. I have to
restart the program to make it work again. I have the upgraded KIO3B

I have upgraded both of my K3's to make them as close to a K3S as best I
can. Presently cleaning up the rats nest of cables. I am using USB.
I no longer use the Line IN and OUT jacks. Presently only using FSK. I plan
on adding FT8 shortly. With the on board CODECs is there any reason I still

Hi,
Looking for an used KPA500 for a local radio club there in France.
So if someone, preferably in Europe, would like to sell his KPA500 (to
buy the new KPA1500 or any other reason), please drop me a note.
Thank you

Phil

I wonder if a better way to track how the KPA1500s are shipping (versus
shipping status page) is that when someone on this list reports receiving one,
can you tell us the day you ordered it? I saw a report of serial number 56
which I assume is still a day one order. It would help those of us
Look at your computer for the answer.
There have been several reports of "strange things happening" with
WSJT-X from MAC users lately. I can't say whether the problem is the
MAC OS or the WSJT-X software's interaction with the OS.
Windows users do not seem to have similar problems.

Tony,
You might want to use LINE IN for computer generated voice or something
like that.
Be aware that if you plug anything into the LINE IN jack, the K3 will
turn off the audio output (but not input) of the USB AUDIO CODEC.

My KPA500 was purchased new in July 2017. Use regular 120V outlet.
I run the red transformer tap to keep my transmit HV above 60 at full 500
output.
The yellow tap did not provide sufficient voltage on transmit. Thus the
red.
I have a whole-house surge protector just outside my main breaker box.
Tnx Don for the info.

Robert,
It is possible that the fault is brief enough to register in the fault
table, but not turn off the amp.
The 65 to 85 volt range is to be determined with the amplifier turned
on, but not keyed and certainly not running at 500 watts.
Do as the manual indicates and measure you AC

Hi Tom,
I ordered mine in the 20th or 21st hour of day one and I paid in full. I have
not received an e-mail asking for confirmation of the shipping address. I am
patiently waiting.
Just hang in there.

This is too funny.
Guys, relax. I'm sure they are working their butts off to get the amps out
as quickly as possible and as QA'd as possible. This isn't Apple that can
product 8M phones on a weekend. This is a small company with a lot of
people doing a lot different jobs as fast as they can.
No need for LINE cables if you have the updated USB KIO3 system.

I'm glad that you're amused, Mike. It's less funny to those of us who
"loaned" Elecraft $6k at the end of August, based on projection of
delivery in October (i.e. 5-8 weeks). Here we are, 7 *months* later,
and it still doesn't even seem imminent. $6k is a "chunk of change"
(at least to most). They
