Hi Elecrafters:
My KPA100 is sick and I need help. The when 11 or above watts are requested, I
get 100+ watts out. When 5 watts are requested, I get 15 watts out. The K2,
without the amp, behaves as expected. I have done all voltage checks per Rev A
manual and all is normal. All firmware is lat
Check to make sure you do not have the K2 menu item OPT = 'Batt' mode.
That mode overrides the bar mode and places it in dot mode.
You want OPT = Perf.

I recently bought this complete K2 setup and am thoroughly enjoying it. So
much so that I have decided to buy one and build it myself, so this one must
go. It is in excellent condition and comes with many options.

Hi Bob,
If it's OK with you, I'll also send this to the list in case others are
interested. I am semi-retired, I do consulting work now. Most of the projects
are freebies, including all the software, although I have done some specialized
programs for individuals in terms of remote control mainl
Hey Kevin,
I found out why I was weaker than usual. I was Mobile, in motion, with
an outbacker on the trunk lip mount. Well usually that Diamond mount
has a little 2 ft 2 meter Hamstick. The big Outbacker with 70 MPH of
windload caused it to ratchet down to horzintal. It was sticking straight

Hi David,
In a gift wrapped parcel from Elecraft.
The old 2N3866 is about the same at 160/80m. Probably you would not notice
the difference.
The MRF 580 or MRF 581 are much better I've found, especially in push-pull.
But now we are getting complicated, and they are becoming scarcer here. The

Try Futurelec.
The '5109 has strong IMD performance, but you'll probably find that it doesn't
have enough gain by itself (about 11dB max). The only devices I've found after
building dozens of circuits that have equivalent IMD performance and high gain
(20dB) are the Gali series MMICs from Mini
Rich, you will be glad you have that noise blanker in there if you ever take it
portable to a campground, or if someone parks a FORD
truck near your house with the engine running. Especially if you're trying to
work a weak one on the higher bands. I use my K2 for
mobile CW, and the noise blanke
Well it appears my NB is probably working but does not doing anything with "my
type of noise" based on everyones comments.
As I mentioned, I miss the NB on the Pegasus. Maybe Elecraft will come out with
another type of blanker for those of us with just atmospheric noise :) Until
then, I will

One thing to try is using the K2 preamp with the receive antenna.I found
that worked really well on Beverages here and was virtually invulnerable to
the birdies and other IMD effects that my ICE preamp had. May not be
enough for you but worth a try..
