I use N4PY to control my 2 Elecraft K2s. I also have it connected to Winkey
and DX4WIN logging software. Its a great combination. Ive had a look at
HRD and TRX-Manager, but prefer N4PY as the best programme to control the
K2.
Only one word of warning in that if you use the KRC2 controller
Hi list,
I'm planning to be on vacation in southern spain in
cqww cw this year. I wonder if in those crowded bands
it is possible to use a K1, which I'd prefer to bring
along. I don't want to win anything, just join the
test for some hours.

You'll definitely have fun especially if you are just looking to spend a few
hours in the contest.
I run my K1 @ 200Hz during contests and it separates the stations well. I
hear the front end is not as bulletproof as the K2's but I have not
experienced intermod in any of the major

Hey guys,
The K1 is a great rig ... but ... I sure miss a real S-meter. I'd love
to see Elecraft make an external S / Pwr meter that hooks to the K1 or
K2.

You may want to try setting the keyer for iambic mode A and then mode B to
see which one is more natural to you. I personnaly abhor iambic mode B
keyers, but the K1 keyer can be set for either mode. Its mode A keyer suits

This issue has an article of my 'Trail Day' activities on the Barr Trail last

It describes the Cog Rail trip up the side of Pikes Peak and the 4000 foot

Hello all, K2 #5250 is up and running, passed all tests and and transmits 15
watts to dummy load. What I do need is some spare toroid cores since i
fractured a T44-2 (red) core and had to steal one from my KPA100 kit. I
would like to buy someones toroid cores who may have bought theirs prewound.
Hello everybody,
I would be very interested in hearing your opinions about the KXPD1 Plug-in
Keyer Paddle for the KX1. How does it feel? Is it adjustable? Is it worth the
price? etc. I'm trying to decide if I want to include one when I order a KX1.
I've been using a Whiterook Products MK-64
Thanks for the feedback guys,
Yes, A B keyer modes. I don't know which is which but I do know I can
only send with one of them :-). I haven't been on paddles regularly for
5 years so part of the issue is the rust in my finger joints. My main
keyer is the CMOS 4 from Logikey. Nice keyer, just

Rick,
I have some spares I am willing to share.
I can put a couple of those T44-2 cores in a padded envelope for you and get
it in tomorow's mail - no charge if First Class Mail will do - it will cost
you $4.05 if you want Prioity Mail.
You can have more cores too if you want - just say which
Thanks for the emails guys, I have one coming from N3CO.

Hello Stephanie,
Many thanks for your detailed description! The modification is easy to do, and
it works - i just had several QSO on 80m and got ufb reports.
On my filter board, the capacitor values (in parallel to the trimmers) are a
bit higher, than in your description.
Many thanks es 73
I can speak up on this, it's a VERY NICE little paddle! When you build
it you'll see how it works, and there's some adjustability but it's
difficult to explain, just get one and see. You can take this paddle
and mount it to a stand with a little stereo jack and a threaded hole
to accept the
My experience with the KX1 paddle is that it is a pain It will start out
working good and the more I use it on a QSO it finally goes crazy and I cannot
even send my own call letters. My call is KD3JF and after I use it a while on a
QSO when I get to send my call I can never make the D for
Neat stuff Paul !
No concerns of thunder storms up there? I have lots of respect for

I guess that is why it is called Adventure Radio Society.

Paul,
The KXPD1 is a bit pricier than the Whiterook, but the ATU and the
paddle go together to make a rig that really does work with nothing
else, just a couple of short wires.
I started out without either, but realized that Elecraft was right, and
making it self-contained is a big deal.
