Hi all,
Sorry for the OT post, but I got my new Vibroplex bug in the mail yesterday
and I don't think I've ever had this much fun in amateur radio since I was a
novice back at age 11. I've been up off and on all night playing with it and
trying to learn how to send with it too. It's a lot harder
LS,
Reminds me of my old Vibroplex Original Key I had as a Novice in the 1960s.
But, that clacking noise of the mechanical key is something else. I did like
my Vibroplex (and, even have another one now) but much prefer my Begali Paddle
due to its sweet movement and soft silence when being
Back around the Dec/Jan 2010 timeframe someone was writing a pc control
program dedicated for pc control of the K3 and was offering a free trial
period to solicit input/changes etc. until the final $commercial$ version
was ready sometime around March of this year. I can't find the software
info
Out of curiosity, approximately what serial number of K3 is currently
shipping?

When sending CW with AFX on I'm getting a pop on every dit and dah on the
left audio channel only. I hear it on my external stereo speakers and on my
headphones. It doesn't occur with AFX off. I couldn't find this in the
archives. Anyone else experience this?
Thanks - Will

I wanted to update everyone on what I did.
I followed Don's advice (again) and moved the turns on L1. I ended up moving
the bottom end of the L1 frequency FROM 3090 to 3069. This gave me the desired
coverage on 40 but at the cost of some of 30. For now I am content with that
as I don't use
Hi Lyle,
I hear the pops on AFX modes 1 - 5, but less pronounced on 1. I don't hear
them on bin.
Keyer speed is 18wpm.
The band is not noisy - about S3.
I'm using version 3.79.
Thanks,
Will

Hi all,
Unfortunately, my stand-in for this week cannot make it so the UK Net will
not run on Sunday. My apologies for this but I am involved with National
Mills Weekend. Normal service will be resumed next week.
Of course if anyone feels they can run the net, please feel free to post it
out!
My K2 #5767 suddenly has quit working. Upon power up today, the freq. readout
is OK, but none of the buttons work and the tuning dial doesn't change freq.
No error messages are seen at powerup.
Anyone have any ideas??

Mike,
The symptom of not being able to do anything from the front panel is
usually an indication that it is attempting to transmit as soon as power
is applied. The simple thing that can cause a transmit condition is a
closed key (or PTT). Remove anything from the micophone jack, remove

Mike,
My K2/100 #3255 behaved in exactly the same way some years ago, actually on
two occasions about a year apart. The problem was caused by dirt or
corrosion on the contacts of the socket of the MCU U6 on the Control board.
Pulling and reseating the U6 IC cured the problem on each occasion.

Hi All,
I didn't see in the K2 spec what the TX audio response is, but I assume
it tops out at 3KHz.
Has anyone seen a K2 mod to widen this range, to, say, 4KHz or higher?
