How long is the KPAK3AUX cable? Trying to determine if it's long enough
to reach for my desk configuration.
Can two cables be plugged together to make it longer to accommodate my
setup.
Thanks

It appears that in CW in SSB mode, the VOX delay is not in use, only full
break in.
Keying the microphone overrides the CW in SSB, which makes sense.
Have I missed something? I want to use CW in SSB with VHF transverters,
whose relays don't work so well with full break in.

Hi Rich,
It's 36 long. If that's not long enough you can just get a 15-pin DE15HD cable
to extend it. You only need one KPAK3AUX cable in your set up to isolate the K3
ACC signals that shouldn't be connected to the KPA500.
Try http://www.winfordeng.com and http://www.cablewholesale.com for
Does anyone have any idea what the ~20KHz wide digital mode QRM is at the
bottom of 17m? It extends from about 18.054 to 18.076, and is a solid S9
strength here, and appears to be coming from Europe.
I wasn't sure if it was local or not, but just had a cw QSO w/ an op in

I am considering purchase of a K3 (I own a K2). One application is the new

As I understand it, the way the PR6 uses the DIGOUT1 connection (pin 11)

The solution is apparently to break the connection on pin 11 to the

Agree with Sam fully. I have the AM filter and currently work both modes
easily. I do not have the TXCO, however it's on my future upgrade list.

Hi Jim,
This has been mentioned a couple of times with some good trouble shooting by
somebody last month (I didn't save the email and couldn't track it down in the
searchable archives).
What he found was there is a connection in the KAT500 that was pulling the
DIGOUT1 signal low and keeping the
Is this a K3 or KX3? On the KX3, the CW delay set in CW mode is used
when sending CW in SSB. On the K3, I forget ... I usually use a foot

Sam's advice is correct ... however, the FM filter is a suitable
alternative to the AM filter if you plan to do/try FM on the top
end of 10 Meters, 6 meters or install the internal 2 m transverter
at some point. Either the FM or AM filters will provide a 4 KHz
wide waterfall (200 - 4200 Hz)

Frank,
Regardless of the diagrams, the turns specified in the text is correct.
Count the number of times the wire passes through the center of the core
- and yes, that last turn does pass through the center, so count it.
In other words, a straight wire through a toroid is 1 turn, a full wrap

We will be looking for KX3s, QRPers and mobile ops, as well as the usual home

I will be net control from western Oregon. See you then.
