Re: [Elecraft] Sony MDR-7506 replacement pads?

2020-11-09 Thread Charlie T
I've done three sets using the Beyer Dynamics velour ear pads.
They seemed to go on smoothly, and last a LOT longer than the originals.
Since the OEM pads flake off too soon, I never used the SONY pads, only Beyer
Dynamics.

[Elecraft] [OT] QSB simulation

2020-11-09 Thread kevinr

Good Afternoon,

We all deal with QSB when we make contacts.  The slow rise and fall
of signal strength or the fast flutter which chops things into pieces.
I wanted to get some idea of how our radio signals bounce off the
ionosphere.  So I wrote some code to simulate it. It is simple model but
I found out how non-linear the reflections are.

I wrote the code for a Windows environment, but run it under Wine on
my Linux box just fine.  You Apple folks can use Wine too since there
are no fancy calls in this application.  If you would like to try it for
yourself download it here :

  Have fun,

In Writelog, I activate the DVR using the F keys on my computer keyboard.

This works very well and IT was easy to set up using N6EE's instructions. I am
sure that it can be done with other logging software such as N1MM, too.

Good Morning Ken,
Win4K3Suite will operate M1-M4. Program each memory as you always do. Then just
click on M1-M4 on the Win4K3Suite window for the memory you want.
Yes, N1MM+ will do it and Writelog will do it as well. I have not used it in
either of these contest logging programs.

Read *ALL* of what I wrote. I indicated that the power is on pin 2
(Kenwood) or 5 (Yaesu/Ten-Tec) but one had to add a 5K6 Ohm resistor
and 1 uF blocking capacitor in order to use an electret mic. Those
manufacturers do not provide "automatic" operation with the CM500
or other electret mics.

NOT SO, DICK TRACY. All three manufacturers provide 5-10v bias
voltage on either Pin 2 or Pin 5, respectively - (and have done so for
many years.)

Elecraft did operators a HUGE FAVOR by switching bias voltage ON and
OFF with a MENU setting, adding an bonus measure of flexibility (...
which is NOT to be corn-fused with any sort of Flex-able Radio! ...
after all, this is CHAOS and we don't do that here ... ) ;-) Elecraft
earned bonus points for providing BOTH an 8-pin Foster jack AND a pair
of 3.5 mm TRS jacks to accommodate all sorts of microphones and headsets
without a middle-man adapter on its larger models - way ahead of the
field. / K8JHR /
