Oops. That link didn't work as intended, but it's very easy to drill down on
the McMaster site and find what you need.

stores: Here's their 6-32 and 4-40 black oxide flat head philips stainless
machine screws. Of course they have pan head, socket cap, and other styles as
well.
Ace Hardware has some screws in Black.

Tommy,
I highly recommend that you get the proper screws from Elecraft to be
certain they are the correct length.
Hardware store screw are normally not available in black, so why mess up
the appearance of your KX2 with zinc plated screws.

You may want to verify whether Elecraft specifies Thermal Material where the
transistors attach.
My K3 and K3s both do. Haven’t disassembled my KX2.

I was late getting in the queue -- I ordered it after I flew home on the
Tuesday after Dayton 2019. It'll be interesting to see when it comes and
what serial number I get.
So I bought a K2 and am now building it. I was on the verge of doing that
in 2007 when the K3 was announced so I built the K3

Hi Tony. According to the K3 mod page, this was introduced at about s/n 280
so you're good to go.
You made me wonder why I hadn't heard of it! I have K3 #486 and I've done
almost every mod that they have come up with..

I have the kx2 and absolutely love it.
1. What is the approximate current draw for the KX2 on transmit at 5 watts
CW?2.
At 10 watts, it is 1.87 amps. At 5 watts, it is 1.49 amps. Receive is about
0.15 amps.
2. What is the narrowest receiver filter width on CW?
It goes down to 0.05 kHz.
If you have any of the remaining screws then take one to the hardware store
when you go. They will do a perfect match for you. They use an aluminum

Hi Dave,
I don't have those numbers in front of me, but wanted to offer that I
have a KX2 and love it. The learning curve for me was pretty steep in
terms of the menus etc, but YMMV. I run almost exclusively CW, and find it
performs very well in that mode. I would strongly recommend the book
