I know this is not a 6 meter discussion group but I do have a K3.
I am hearing a lot of people on 6 meters working DX which I cannot hear,
also calling CQDX. I am wondering what kind of antennas you are using? I am
using a 3 element SteppIr and am in FN42

I started this thread last week. I was just venting. I really didn't expect
as much discussion.
It is nice to know that the principals at Elecraft actually read this
discussion group and pay attention if they think it is necessary.
I know that the K3 is unequivocally the best performing radio
Pete,
That is a great idea but it may serve as a negative advertisement for
Eleccraft.

I sent my K3 to Elecraft in California after I and tried and failed to fix
the problem using Elecraft's support process.
I finally called them after hearing nothing for over a week. The nice lady
who answered the phone told me that the radio wouldn't even be put on the
repair bench for at least
If you have all the test equipment necessary to troubleshoot these modern
radios more power to you. In the old days I used to be able to work on my
car too.

I am thinking about getting a LP-PAN for my K3. I wonder what others think
about it? I had a SDR-1000 and really liked the panadapter feature. If you have
one please let me know what you think.
Thanks

I have been operation the K3 with a AL-811H. No problems at all. Just
connect the key out to the key in RCA cable. Keep the K3's power down around
70 - 80 watts.

I was a radioman in the Navy back in the late 60's. We copied 5 character
groups so there was very little comprehension. I was totally immersed in CW
during radioman school and at the end of 6 months could copy 26 WPM. I was
the top man in the class but got beat out for first place by a WAVE.

I just finished my KX-1. I am not sure if I have problems or not. The output
power into a dummy load is only 2 watts. I completed the power mod replacing
resistors R11 and R30 which made little or any difference. Also the receiver
sensitivity seems noticeably better on 40 meters. Any comments?
