I use an 80m dipole as you describe for 30, 40, 60 and 80 meters. Before
putting up a tower/Yagi, I used it 10-80 and have worked 8B-DXCC (CW) with
it.
15 ft of RG-213 goes out the shack window to a 9:1 balun, then 450-ohm
ladder line up 110 feet to the center of the dipole.

The August issue of CQ Magazine (page 57) mentioned that QRP Guys will soon
be releasing a QRP transceiver kit designed for digital modes with plug-in
band modules. I emailed them asking when orders might begin being taken and
was told that they're still working on it.
SDR radios don't require the entanglement of cables and can be quite
portable. I have two - the mcHF and the older Apache Labs Anan-10e. Only
one ethernet cable connects them to a small laptop for any/all modes.
6-160m with the Anan; 10-80 with the mcHF.

I do the same thing for the same reason when operating FT8 (40 watts out)
but at fan speed 1 - the temp then never goes even close to where it would
normally turn on (50C). In fact, I wish there was a speed half of what 1 is
for lower noise and probably the same effect.

first one is tonight from 0200 - 0300Z. This is a "mock" contest.
The 2nd one - also a mock test - is this Friday evening (NA time) from

Since VP6D is responding to multiple callers at once (on multiple
frequencies), his signal strength is reduced from what it would be if he
were making a transmission on a single frequency.
For example, if a single-freq reply from him would be -23dB, if he is
transmitting to several callers
And with the right size loading coil could it be used on 630 and 2200
meters pedestrian mobile? What size wheelbarrow would be recommended for
the coil?
