Go for two, then you can take advantage of AFX.
I use two small black communications speakers, designed for vehicle mounting and
optimised for voice and are only 3-4 mm taller than the K3 -- one either side.
Really does enhance AFX on SSB and they look good too. And they were less
than GBP 7
And I thought it was -- Parcel Farce

Apart from the dielectric it looks similar to W103 - Probably also has the same
diameter of centre conductor. Therefore will not fit a standard N type without
modifying either the conductor or the pin. (Been there with W103).

Current K3s shipped to the UK appear to be set to US band limits. In order to
transmit on the UK 60 metre channels you need to send a request to Garry --
[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- and give him your serial no.
You will receive a quick reply and a small programme. Install it on your PC.

-- Maybe it's just me, but the spot feature seems less accurate than
previously. Using 2.02 and dsp 1.77.
Anyone else notice this?
Yes, I have. There is now no CWT indication on signals below S9+. No doubt this
will be cleared up in the next release.

Whilst playing with, sorry exploring, my K3 this morning I have set something
that causes VFO B to track VFO A. Simply put as I tune VFO A both A B
frequencies change together. This only occurs on 40m, the band I was listening
to at the time. All other bands are normal.
Unfortunately I cannot

What could be better than sitting down in the evening with a K2 and a glass

I have been following this thread and find it very interesting, particularly
as a Mechanical Engineer I have to read it slowly but may I comment --
1, I don't know the details of Icom's protection system, but the ones I have
seen sense reflected power, well actually it will be the voltage
I have held my class B licence since 1972 and always meant to do the morse
test. Finally after 35 years, with the help of John, G3FDN, at the Stirling

Still nervous about going on-air I have been practicing sending

I have only experienced one bounce - approximately 2 years ago. This was due
to my mail box on the ISP (Tiscali) server filling up. At that time it was
10MB and I could not access it for a couple of weeks due to a PC fault.
Before I retired I subscribed on my office computer (I worked

You were lucky, I had to pay Handling, VAT and Duty!!
Got the duty back eventually - seemed the person checking it in couldn't be
bothered with the duty codes. Although the letter from customs made it
appear to be my fault that they had charged me.
I think it is the luck of the draw,
I completely agree.
If it aint broke - don't fix it.

Hi
It is just too difficult to check. -- I had to pay import duty on my K2 -
but the additional modules and upgrades purchased a year later went through
the system with no problems. So why do they use the computer excuse.
As you pay VAT on top of the duty (taxing the tax) you will get back a

Better still, come over to the UK next month when at two minutes and three
seconds after one o' clock on the 4th May 06 you can experience it all over
again.

The K2 is duty free in the EU. You will have to pay a fee to Parcel Post for
handling the package through customs - depends on the import value, I paid
13.50 GBP, and the VAT.
The EU class the K2 as Transceiver Apparatus for Radio Telephony with
category codes 8525 2099 00 and 8529

Just to add my experiences.
My first order for a K2 (Jan 2004) came through parcel force and full duty
was charged. Parcelforce collect the duty for customs, but would not admit
that they were in the wrong. I did manage to contact customs by phone, but
only by way of a helpful receptionist

If you decide to solder thepins on top of the board as I did. watch the
barrel of the soldering iron. It is all to easy to catch one of the push
buttons, they burn quicker than a PA transistor running into a dead short. I
know, I burnt the tuning rate button :-(
