Sure, Keith. Connect the K3 RS232 port to the P3 and the P3 to your
computer.

I use Logger32 for logging and it has occurred to me I could connect my K3 to
my laptop to get automatic band-logging.
I run a K3, KPA500 & P3. Can I use the RS232 connector on the K3 to connect to
my laptop? Currently I use that connector to connect to the P3.
Help would be appreciated.
Keith
Opps, sorry. I was looking at the K3 table.
For the KX3 it would be SWT24;

If you want to swap the contents of A and B, use SWT11;

Does anyone know what the CAT commands that allow you to switch from VFO A
to VFO B?
I have the phone section of a band set to VFO A, and the CW section of that
band in VFO B. I have the filters and mode set for each section of the
band.

I don't want to start an apps war, but I'd like some information so that I

I am attempting to use CAT commands to program the K3 to go into something I
call remote or local mode (using HRD with macros assigned to buttons)
Basically, remote mode switches the MIC to Line in and sets the compression

Local mode, switches MIC to front
The IC command will give you what you want. Voice VOX status is
available in bit 6 of Byte d.

I thought you couldn't do that inn the k3 utility. I guess I could program a
macro and then just call this from HRD. I can't find any documentation on
HRD programming languages.
Perhaps I don't even need to switch to PTT and back. From the manual it
says that even if you VOX the PTT is active.

How do i connect the power amplifier (SPE 1K-FA automatic) and the PC
computer onto the K3? Everything should be via RS232 ? ACC ?
Tnx

Hi
Is it possible to send a PTT and,or the CW keying commands to the K2 via
the RS232 port if the K2 has the KIO2 module installed . using software
such as MixW.

Jim,
See the K2 Programmer's Reference for all the commands that can be
sent/received via the K2 through the KIO2 interface. Keying uses the KY
command, and in SSB or RTTY mode, the TX command will set the transmit
state (pulls PTT low).
If your software application can issue those commands,
It seems to me, the ML command to get and set the Monitor Level is
not working.

Any ideas?

A bit of help please. CAT was working fine for the first half of field day
and then quit. I was unable to get it to work again at Field Day.
Today, I connected the K3 to another computer and serial port and it still
doesn't work. I've confirmed the baud rate is set to 38,400 bps. The com

I believe I have the baud rate set to 4800 and HRD seems to work fine with
my K3.

Bruce and Dick,
Thank you for your suggestions. Turns out the problem was a defective
USB/Serial Converter. All if fine now.
I guess all the dirty power, even though I had a UPS in line, got to the
converter some how. Or maybe it just quit.

Ultimately, yes. Every control on the K3 is read by the same MCU that
