If I set up my transmitt filter to use the 2.1 8 pole, would this create any problems. I am wondering if this would tighten the signal to improve my TX as I am running bearfoot. Thanks Don __ Elecraft mailing list Home:

Tx Filter for SSB and CW and Data must be 2.7 to 2.8 kHz. Better to use TX EQ to shape your Tx audio. 73 de Dick, K6KR On Dec 4, 2010, at 8:04, gold...@charter.net wrote: If I set up my transmitt filter to use the 2.1 8 pole, would this create any problems. I am wondering if this would

Hi Dick I was not thinking about shaping but reducing the bandwith to concentrate the transmitt energy. Kind of like narrow filters for CW. I am still new to this hobby and it was just an idea that I had. Maybe when I finish going thru the extra study guide over the holidays I will know

You can reduce the bandwidth by cutting lows and/or highs with TX EQ. The K3 firmware expects a 2.7 to 2.8 kHz Tx filter, and will probably display an ERR TXF error if you select another. Your overall objective is fine, I do this by cutting the bottom two audio TX EQ bands to their lowest

Theoretically that is correct, but the true width of a CW carrier is determined by the purity of the signal. I doubt there are many TX's that can transmit a perfectly pure signal in any mode. 73, Tom Childers Radio Amateur N5GE Licensed since 1976 QCWA Member 35102 ARRL Life Member On Sat, 4
