Thanks all - looks like a combination of the above got things working OK. I
can hear the voices moving around in my head, which would be a bad sign in
any other case, but a good sign for Diversity RX! ;-)

To use two TX capable antennas, you connect the subRX AUX antenna
connection to the TMP connector on the KAT3, and set the K3 KRX3 menu to
"ANT=ATU". The non-transmit antenna will be used by the subRX whenever
you set the subRX antenna to AUX.
If you want to use a low noise receive
Turn off sp+phone
Make sure spkrs = 1
Make sure volume and rf gain for sub RX are set
Done
