Don and all, Yes, that is possible electrically, and it will work, BUT - it will drive you nuts unless you have perfect timing with the dashes with respect to the start and end of the automatically generated dits - I have tried it with several keyers including the K2 just for fun. Mechanical

I tried this several years ago. It worked for a while, but at times it went into keyer mode. Don't remember exactly what I got, or why, but I couldn't use it. I havn't had trouble switching from bug to keyer because the bug has a much heavier action and that acts as a tell to get me in the
