Hi Andrew: I'm working on a backlighting mod for the K1 and I just happen to have that info... The K1 manual specifies it as a V.L. Electronics VI-321-DP-RC-S-12 display. however that nomenclature is no longer totally accurate. The VL web site can be found at:

Tom ..et al... DOES.. from what I think I understand from the recent postings... mean that in theory,... one could purchase the digital display unit, on its own...from Elecraft, or the other company that was specified... and then proceed to homebrew a digi display for use in other rig
