I need to replace a diode in the K60XV - part #E560014. It's a PIN labeled

in performance by using this substitute diode?

Hello all,
Have noticed over the recent years that current baluns are used in places where
the load/source Z is not purely resistive (OK will allow a little reactance) ,
example - an incoming transmission line that looks like R +j (quite a lot) goes
to a balun then the to an ATU then to the
Hi all,
I seem to remember a couple of guys looking to experiment with setting
up an extension speaker and PSU in an EC2 enclosure. Has anything come
of it? I am interested in this, especially since I added the KPA100 as
I find the speaker in it a little bassy for my liking.

The current balun can be readily demonstrated to provide equal and opposite
currents to highly unbalanced loads. A simple test is to connect a balun to
a load consisting of a 50 ohm resistor connected to a common or ground place
and similarly a 100 ohm resistor. Measurement of the r-f voltage

Tony,
This is a very specialized PIN diode. You can't replace it with an
ordinary silicon diode or a 1N4007.
I'm sure your replacement is on the way.

The K2 power connector is a Switchcraft S-760, Mouser part number
502-S-760, page 700 in Catalog 619. The companion chassis jack, should
you want one, is a Switchcraft 722A, Mouser part number 502-722A.
These connectors use a 2.1 MM center pin.

Hi Bob,
Many thanks for comments - much appreciated. When I got my first licence in
1946, not in the UK, ATUs were usually big beasts with hefty plug-in coils,
widespaced air variables, swinging links and lots of big insulators. Usually
the ATU was at some distance from the Tx and its pi
Hi everyone,
I have two antennas...an unmatched longwire and a vertical. The
unmatched longwire interferes with our two line 900MHz phone system a little
bit but
the vertical almost destroys audible altogether. While transmitting CW on the
vertical, there is a loud clicking sound on

I have used the KComm telephone filters with great success. The other
option you don't mention is to change brands of telephone. When I was
having problems, it was with a Bell South portable. The KComm filter
cleared up the problem. When the phone eventually gave up the ghost, I
Have you investigated RF infiltration into the power line going to the phone
'base' unit rather than into the phone line itself?

You could try going back to wired phones. In every case I have tried,
wrapping 20 - 30 turns of telephone cord around an old transistor radio
ferrite loopstick core (with the original antenna wire stripped off) has
been effective. I simply get a 15-20 foot extension cord (pre-made
Here are a couple of things to try:
- Try another phone. Radio Shack phones seem to work well around RF
- Move the phone to another jack and see if the problem still exists.
- Make sure you have a good ground for the ham equipment.
- Sometimes adding a length of coax changes the problem.
- Do you
The KCom filters have cleaned up all of my own 'phone

Good luck.

I actually use that same setup (28' wire and 16' ground, BNC adapter). I get
pretty good DX results, and the SWR is about 1:1 on all 3 bands. The end of

I would be fine to know about your ''mixed results''?

My recollection was that WA6FWF made this one with a 4x6 speaker, but that he
said that we was going to change it to 2x K2 speakers.
