Re: [O] Porting Apple Calendars to org-mode
Thanks, I actually got .org-mac-iCal working, and even changed it to be able to load non-Apple calendars if present in the local calendar app. I will try and push the modified version to github or send a patch. Re: [O] Porting Apple Calendars to org-mode
Hi Ken, Thanks for your response. The file(s) you linked to usually assume a generated list of ics files no? My problem right now is that I do not want to generate those manually from my Mac (could be done of course, but this search is for something that does that). The one that comes close is org-mac-iCal, but again my problem with that one is that it does not work for all the calendars, even personal one that is not networked. Surprisingly, it works with the holidays calendar (sorry I said birthdays before, but it's the holidays one that comes by default). I do not know what's special about that one, but my guess is that perhaps the formats or locations have changed for the others, although that would be..surprising. [O] Porting Apple Calendars to org-mode
Hi guys, I posted a question to the Emacs StackExchange ( https://emacs.stackexchange.com/questions/50137/show-apple-calendar-events-in-org-mode), but I believe it's better asked here. Does anyone know how I can get my Apple calendar to show up in org-mode as readonly (preferably)? I had no luck with org-mac-iCal. Only one calendar (the Birthdays calendar) shows up, eventhough all other calendars are *checked*, as the documentation from that package requires. It is also rather old, so not sure if it works anymore?

That would allow you to have an agenda file appear in the recent files list IF it was opened through a manual use of find-file, but NOT if it was opened as a side effect of loading an agenda. This more fine-grained approach was a little more work than I wanted to do, and didn't necessarily provide me a lot more value, so I didn't bother with it. But someone else might find it worth coding up. Chacun à son org configuration! Cheers, r It seems that absolute paths are needed in the definition of org files. If org-agenda-files is defined using ~/org/.. this may not work since recentf uses absolute paths. Cheers, Mohamed

Re: [O] Exporting an article to a (very) specific formatting template
James Harkins jamshark70 at gmail.com writes: Actually, let me take a few steps back from my specific question about the title command. There are some other workflow questions that might make that question redundant. This journal (for some reason unknown to me) has designed the publication format in MS Word, and there are some specific requirements. So I have a couple of choices: - Export to LaTeX, and try to reproduce their layout (likely with a new document class based on article). That's a chunk of work, but they also confirmed that I could send PDF as long as it follows the style guidelines. - Export to ODT. This is probably simpler for setup -- I'd probably just need to change some of the names of paragraph or character styles in their template so that org can find them for section headings, abstract etc. But... there is more risk of the formatting breaking. If I send .odt, MS Word might choke on it, or similar if I resave my .odt as .docx. (The word online is that LibreOffice does not do well saving docx.) Or, export to ODT and let LibreOffice turn that into a PDF. I hesitate to do this, when LaTeX is a far superior typesetter. (But, tweaking all the formatting details in LaTeX is quite likely to give me some more gray hairs...) Advice? Thanks -- hjh I used both aproaches : - Usually I customize the org options (latex templates) to meet the requirements of the final document. It is convenient for me to stay in emacs. For the gray hairs, you do it once and thus you have minor modifications. - But sometimes when I work with other colleagues I need to have something more common, odt seems fine but as you mentioned you may have to add a final manual toutch to be sure your document can be modified by the others. Eric Schulte schulte.e...@gmail.com writes: Hi Eric, Thanks for this swift reply. I will try :) Best regards, Mohamed Hi Mohamed, You have a small typo in your header arguments, :comment should be :comments. After that change then code block should be tangled wrapped in comments, and then Babel can use these comments to jump back to the original org-mode file. That said, the detangle mechanisms are in need of some work, specifically regarding their use of the Org-mode's link resolution, which doesn't currently make it possible to programmatically jump to the results of a link. So, until some time is spent fixing up the detangling machinery inside of Babel, you may not find detangling to be extremely robust.
