The manual advertize two dashes but both work fine here.

I'm myself using two dashes, I just copied the example of 
the OP too hastly.

Shouldn't these timestamps have two dashes between them?
   <2010-12-25 Sat 14:40>--<2010-12-25 Sat 14:50>
or
   <2010-12-25 Sat 14:40-14:50>

?

Isn't it -- (two dashes) for the range purpose?
