Load Tray Requirements?

1997-09-17 Thread CRAIG HENSLEY
Greetings, I'm looking for any information on safety requirements/guidelines for removable media loading tray mechanisms (i.e., CD-ROM). Specifically what guidelines or requirements should be used to account for the possibility of hair, clothing, fingers, or even a tongue (and who knows what

Is that what you're really seeing - a harmonic of the clock? I developed a spreadsheet whereby I can calculate all sorts of freqs from a product that has been accurate enough to scare me. If you want, supply the freqs of all clocks, incoming/outgoing signals, and any division being

EN 60950 and component heating

1997-09-17 Thread Tac Pham
Hello Kevin, The heating test performed on your PCB is to verify the compliance of the PCB usage. In some cases, the temperature on the body of non-safety critical components must verify to determine the appropriate spacing of the surrounding components, such as wires (rated 105) or capacitors

Hi Kevin, I had a rather bad experience between UL and CSA in the older days when there wasn't so much discussion and agreement between them. I had set up an MOU between them with UL as the test location. Went like this ... Switching power supply. Has a transformer. Must do abnormals

Moshe, We've all noticed this seeming fluctuation of signals that should be the same. There are two reasons for it. 1. There really are fluctuating signals coming from the EUT and 2. the analyzer is doing this to an otherwise constant signal. For the first case, the most blatant example is

Craig: You can not expect to find solutions to all problems that may come up during your work in the standards, you just have to use your head, think the problem through: 1. Are there any sharp edges which could cause injury? 2. Is the force exerted by the closing

9/17/97 This is a SUMMARY OF INPUTS ON AUSTIN SYMPOSIUM Thanks to all the people (14) who responded to my request for feedback on the 1997 IEEE EMC Austin Symposium. Below is a summary of the recurring comments. (Note:- These comments are also somewhat prejudiced from other sources, particularly

Doug, To answer your question of which is better: The primary concern should have been the temperature of the windings to see if the insulation (between primary and secondary?) would have exceeded the allowable limits and thus possibly break down. A (much lesser) secondary concern would have

(off topic) Earth orbital period

Good God! What short sightedness! ;-) Earth orbits the sun in a mere 365.242198781 days! In the year 3000 folks will bemoan the programmers who used the wildly inaccurate 365.2425 figure! Thanks for the correction! I /KNEW/ someone would pop on and

Re[6]: modeling RFI sources randomness

1997-09-17 Thread Moshe_Valdman
Jon, This isn't a fair comparison. Inside the measured computer there are factors which could influence emissions, like shielding, stray capacitance and other, and this could be changing with temperature, vibration etc. And of course the signal is much lower and more difficult to measure. moshe

One of the problems on a typical PC is the software its running. If you are running anything under Windows, then you have the randomness of the housekeeping functions of the windows OS. Old Billionaire Billy has incorporated many big-brother features that he won't tell us about and is the
