I normally use AC unless testing across capacitors where you have to use DC.
The AC voltage is usually stated as the RMS value and you will need to
calculate the peak level and use this for your DC test.

The last information I have is that EN55024:1998, which becomes
effective very soon still only identifies surge test of 2Kv line to ground,
but I have a persistant buzzing in my ear from a single source that is
claiming it actually requires 4Kv for the surge test.

one of my clients require approval for Australia. (C-tick mark). My
understanding is, that I have to send the sample to Australia for approval.
