Jim,
If I recall correctly you are aware of certain types of secondary protection
that are not good to use.
It would probably be good to share that information so that all of us do not
have to re-learn it the hard way.
Thanks,
Don

Hi Rick,
I've heard the term split-phase applied to this sort of set-up.
My opinion and not that of my employer.

Hi Rick:
1. Re phase-to-phase connection to 2 legs of a 3-phase system, I'd call it
single phase.
2. The 120+120=240 system that enters our homes is commonly called
split-phase because it is a single phase 240Vac circuit that happens to be
split into 2 by the centre-tap to provide 120Vac
I am in the process of assisting our publications group with documenting an

varying opinions in our engineering group regarding the naming convention
for input power, in particular single phase verses two phase.

Dear All,

Simply put, a type certification is a 100% test by an independent

Hi Zohar:
The Scope of EN41003 reads:
This standard applies to equipment designed and intended to be connected to
a TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORK termination. It does not apply to equipment
covered by EN60950.
Therefore, equipment intended to connect to the network that is not ITE (for

I had a similar situation some time ago with an internal cable and it had to
do with the insulation thickness. The SJT cord was only rated 300V, and the
insulation thickness did not meet the European standard. We changed to a
600V cord, which was accepted.

Hello to all,
Any one familiar with EN 41003:1999 standard, if yes, where is it
applicable?
Does EN 60950/IEC 60950 covers EN 41003 requirements?

George,
I would look into a HP ink jet printer. I have always found them to be very

Hi All,
I have a situation where the test house I normally use for safety will
accept SJT cordage for an internal power cable but a different test house
will not. The power cable conducts 240v from one power supply to another,
with both supplies internal to the machine. The second test house
