A week or so ago, I asked about the origin of the
0 and 1 symbols for off and on.
I mentioned that it was my recollection that the
the symbols came from early safety standards where
the off and on functions were by means of a
rotary switch where the 0/zero position was off.
I found some
Greetings All,
There is a position in Northern Virginia for a Document Control Manager and
am wondering if anyone knows of someone looking for a job?
Private responses are also welcome.
Thanks,

Peter,
You are right, the standard does address movable equipment, but movable
equipment is not even mentioned with regard to the stability tests of
4.1. It only uses the term relative to fire enclosure and leakage
current. The stability tests are essentially unchanged since the larger
I have just located a useful site for up-to-date notes on the progress

Hi Guys,
I had to many email responses to thank you all individually!
The result was some misunderstanding and lack off full details when
applying to the vehicle authority to make a decision on whether our product
was applicable to this Directive.
However, another matter cropped up. How to
Hi Guys,
Thanks for your responses.
The ISDN Conducted RF was fixed by choosing an ISDN transformer with
internal CMC (I didn't know they exisetd!)
The LAN was fixed using a twisted pair cable. This was actually a
Technicians mistake as I had already had this requirement on my cable
drawing.
If the cart can be used with the battery charger in place, I would also do
it to EN55014 (since, I assume, that it is basically a motor driven
device). Then harmonics and flicker would apply as well.

Bob,
You state: Note that 60950 stability requirements are intended to address
equipment which is not in motion. I disagree.
Parag. 1.2.3.1 of the 60950 standard defines monable equipment as one that
is either
- 18 kg or less in mass and not fixed, or
- equipment with wheels, castors, or
Hi all
As fare as I remember when you deal with governments (police, train,
buses etc.) the requirement for CE marking can be omitted.
Can any one point me to an official statement/rule concerning this
matter.
Right now I'm involved in some automobile equipment for the police,
which normally
Tony,
To answer your questions:
1)?Am I correct that the GRP reflectivity can add to the signal strength??If
so, by what amount is typical?
Yes, it will add roughly 6dB depending on interested frequency, etc.
2)?How can I prove to my client that this is so? 3)?What documentation exists
Don't forget that nearby conductors will also affect gain (or lack of it)
of an antenna. There are few EUT's built such that their antennas may be
treated as if they existed in isolation.
