Does anyone out there know of a product or material that could be clamped or
formed around an installed cable and be absorptive, not inductive, in the low
end of the AM BCB (around 500 - 800 kHz)?
Thank you,

I do not think so.
Unless you are ready for huge volumes of ferrite.
Normal snap-on ferrites (large ones) are effective only
from 50 MHz off, and the effect may be improved at the cost of it’s
effectiveness in the 100’s of MHz range
by winding the cable 2 -3 times through the ferrite.
At work we bought some giant Ferrishield snap-on beads for 200$US each.
They'r e really only useful for troubleshooting and we got them because we
need to go over 5cm diameter cables. 5cm ID, and 115mm OD. VERY heavy. But
even with their size and weight, teh material provided would be
There is so much involved in NEBS testing that it would be hard to qualify
individual components. A hard disk or power supply might pass the temperature
and vibration tests, but the final configuration will determine EMI
performance. The fire testing is impossible to do on most of these
Hi all,
I have been tasked with looking into RoHs requirements. Is there a definitive
source
of information that I can use? (Gooling RoHs has way to many hits!)
Thanks!!

Nothing I say represents the opinions or policy of my employer.
I very much concur with Mr Eckert. NEBS for 'components' is
seldom cost effective for anything other than very simple stuff,
and may not be representative of the component's performance in
the end-use installation.
My employer has

Charles,
I found acquisition of CNS 13438 to be difficult. Couldn't find it on
the ANSI site. To purchase from cnsonline, you must purchase a HiTech
prepaid card and that was the difficult part for us. The web site was
difficult. We finally got our in-country rep. to get it for us. They

For the ANSI webstore, did you look under Chinese GB ?
About 15 months ago I bought a Chinese std from ANSI - so do not
know what changed.
I just visited the cnsonline and bsmi.gov.tw sites and got a
multitude of 404 errors, and a 301 (moved).
Also, perhaps Grace Lin could advise, as she once
I did a quick search on the ANSI web site for Chinese GB, as
suggested. I got 1500 hits, but could not find CNS 13438 and all
documents I browsed through (not all 1500) were in Chinese language,
which is of no help to me.

The GB standards are for mainland China. The CNS standards are for Taiwan.
ANSI does not have many Taiwanese standards. BSMI is the best place to get
it, but their web site isn't working properly right now. (At least the
English section is not.) CE Magazine does have an old comparison between
FWIW, some components that are sold specifically into the

nothing toward 'certification.' Some do more than others;
it's a tricky affair.
