There also appears to be no requirement for a top and sides of the fire enclosure, only a specific clause for the bottom of the fire enclosure. However I guess any manufacturer who shipped product requiring a fire enclosure without the top and sides of such an enclosure would be quickly called

Must a European power cord (H05VV-F) be marked as HAR for harmonised or is a marking of VDE permissible as it indicates approval by VDE, a harmonised European safety agency (harmonised indicted by the use of )? Regards, Craig - This message is from the IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society

It doesn't _have_ to be either (contrary to what a trading standards officer tried to persuade me once, but then admitted he was wrong when I put him on the spot over it) but at least a VDE or other Notified Body approval is a good idea and will aid your market acceptance. Nick. At 15:26

Sanity check on AC motors for boat use

In reviewing standards as applicable to DC powered (battery) motors for use on boats, as I’m seeing it that applicable EMC directive standards to apply would be EN55012 and EN55014-2. EN55014-1 excludes devices used exclusively in vehicles. Another route to go would be in looking at EN61000-6

Depends upon what is meant by a Boat A Recreational Vessel or a Commercial Vessel? I would think the later needs to conform to requirements of the International Association of Class Societies E10 standard. Or more particularly perhaps to the standards of the actual Class Society (Lloyds

If an opening fully complies with 4.6.1 or 4.6.2 then it doesn't need to be filled with anything, and there's no reason for a V-1 requirement. I believe the '950 authors meant to address openings that would not comply with 4.6.1 or 4.6.2 if the component involved was not installed in the hole.
