Insulation Resistance test NOT same as di-electric withstand. Classic instrument often refered to as 'megger'. IR tests are typically done at lower test V than D/E withstand. Depending on rating of components, IR test voltages can be applied anywhere the insulation quality must be quantified, and

Hello Brian, This is usually a Portable Appliance Test (PAT) requested mostly by UK Customers. It is simply a 500 VDC dielectric withstand test where you measure resistance. In the old days, before cell phones, IEC 348 required this test. In my opinion, this is a left over test that has not
