What version of S2 does your Customer want you to use? The current version is SEMI S2-0715 and it does not have a strain relief requirement. Neither does S2-0706. SEMI S22-0715 does. Paragraph 17.7.3 in S22 references the strain relief test in paragraph 22.7. Ron Wellman From: Doug

The latest version apparently has this requirement. I personally have SEMI S2-0706 and have not been able to verify, however the client has indicated the problem with snippets of text from the standard. Thanks,

I believe you mean clause 22.7 from SEMI S22? SEMI S2 does not have a requirement for strain relief. Besides, I am wondering why you are using SEMI S22? SEMI S22 was created to be a reference document for SEMI S2. I also agree with the other responses, use an appliance inlet. Ron

Yes, I suggested an IEC 320 type, the problem is this is a few pennies more expensive than a plastic strain relief.I've given them a few options.  Meanwhile, I ‎need to notify the S2 WG of this oversight.

All, Is anyone on the forum able to help with a concern about clause 22.7 Strain Relief Test? It requires a calibrated weight of 156 Newtons (35 Lbs) be applied without regard to the overall size of the equipment. For example, a small instrument connected with cord and strain relief requires

[PSES] software safety

Software safety... what is it? At the very least, it is software control of a safeguard. In printers, software shuts down the moving parts when the cover is opened. In CD drives, software shuts down the spinning disc and turns off the laser. No, these shut-downs are not done with a physical

Hello Brian, ISPCE has had some coverage of code safety, but it is typically in the medical track. This is one area where code review has been standard for some time. However, I have found attendance for the medical presentations to be among the lowest for any of the ISPCE presentations.
