Used equipment -reply problems.
I apologize for the missing attachment. We have new virus detection software on our LAN system that thinks any attachment is fair game. I think I caught everyone on the re-send. If you did not receive a reply with the attachment please re-send your request. Sorry for the mix-up. I'm sure this new ^%$#@ LAN virus detection program must be from Microsoft. No one else could create a piece of software so defective. Sorry for the inconvenience. Michael Taylor
Re: Books on Intrinsic safety and ATEX - summary
The replies I got and some useful web sources ... __ The Canadian Standards association published a book Hazardous Locations, A guide for the design, construction and installation of Electrical Equipment. It was written Pre-ATEX Directive, and I do not know if it has been updated since then, but I find that it is a great reference document. __ ... an excellent primer on explosion protection by R. Stahl .. http://www.rstahl.com/Exprotection/index.htm Click on the pdf Basics of Explosion Protection for an in depth look at this subject. It's about 4.5 Mb. The answers to your questions are in there plus a whole lot more. _ The best resource I know of is Factory Mutual Research, Most of their standards are free or extremely cheap. And they always answer the phone. I am told they also are good with email, although I haven't bothered to test that. _ Consider Intrinsically Safe Instrumentation Guide Robin Garside, Hexagon via RS components 907-894. Chris: I hadn't been following the thread, so I apologize if this is duplicative. A book that I picked up at the IEE headquarters in London a few years ago cover a lot of ground in the safety and explosive atmospheres areas. It is: Adams, J. Maxwell, Electrical Safety - a guide to the causes and prevention of electrical hazards, The Institution of Electrical Engineers, IEE Power Series 19, London, 1994 (ISBN 0 85296 806 X) Regards, Jacob Z.
